The North Sea is currently in uproar caused by a gale of 9 Bft. We are stormbound in the marina of Newcastle for the past two days, which is perfectly ok with us, as we had planed to take our time to explore Newcastle and Durham, both English cities with a rich history since Roman and Medival times.
On weekends the city is bursting with nightlife. Groups of elaboratly dressed up partygoers flood the streets. In jeans and sneakers we somewhat stood out from the crowd, but this did not keep us from enjoying a first pint of beer in an English pub and the company of these two pretty but slightly drunk girls.

Durham
Durham is about an hours drive away from Newcastle. And it is the home of Maryam, the lovely aunt of our son in law. She picked us up at the marina and we spent a wonderful day together in her gorgeous historic home town.

The last photo reminds us to a famous Beatles song:
Close your eyes and I’ll kiss you
Tomorrow I’ll miss you …
Alles Liebe. Andrea
